Our cats’ litter box used to be located within our master bathroom but once we completed our bathroom remodel, we no longer wanted it in there. We have a closet area outside the bathroom so that seemed like the best spot to place it. I researched various enclosure ideas to hide it.

We decided to buy this cat washroom. It opened on the side:

I liked the look of it but I found it was hard to clean the litter box since there wasn’t much headroom. I had to pull our litter genie out every time to use it:

Mike came up with the idea of making the top open instead of the side. We decided it was worth buying another washroom so we would have a seamless look. We swapped out the side doors for the solid side from the other washroom. It’s huge but I love that it holds everything. The finished box:

Mike added all the hinges (they work great!):

We bought a pond liner to line the area where the litter sits and stapled it to the box. It’s so much easier cleaning the litter from above:

I’m sure people think we’re crazy for spending so much money on a litter box but I think it’s worth it especially since our litter box is in an open area. It should last our lifetime too.
